The latest commit on the GitHub page was on August 31st, 2018. As development went on, more members were recruited to the development team through applications (including five more writers, five artists, two editors and a composer), bringing the team total to 16 members. The DDLC Purist Mod began development in September 2017 shortly after Doki Doki Literature Club's release, initially with development members GarnetSunset, Tabuukilla, and Syzygy. The mod includes over 60 minutes of original soundtrack composed by Matt Twigg, consisting of 20 tracks, which released on the 22nd of August 2018. According to the DDLC wiki page on Easter Eggs: Upon selecting a word for the poem minigame on Day 3 of Act 2, there is a 1/11 (9.09) chance for a Monika sticker to jump from underneath the screen.

The mod includes several pieces of original art created by artists including Temachii and PeachCake as well as several others. The words you choose have no effect on Monika. The DDLC Purist Mod added 11+ hours of additional playtime to the base game, with each girl having a full-length route with at least one good and one bad ending.
